Crafting During Quarantine: Polymer Clay Earrings

We are starting to explore new things! I have always liked polymer clay earrings and have a bunch of them pinned to boards on my Pinterest and decided to finally give it a shot. While they are not perfect, I am very happy with them and will definitely wear them with a variety of outfits!

Here is what you will need:

  • Toaster oven (not one you might cook food in, you do not want to contaminate your food at a later date! We got a cheap one from Walmart strictly for crafting)
  • Rolling tools (pasta maker optional, again, one strictly for crafting)
  • Metal cutters of desired shapes
  • Clay knife
  • Polymer clay
  • Earring hooks/studs and connector loops

I made the earrings very simply by:

  1. Buying Sculpey clay of many colors, cutting off small pieces of multiple colors and rolling them out. This warms them up to be easier to use and design (I use sculpey souffle but they’re really all good to use)
  2. I design it how I wanted it to look, cut out the shapes I want, and poke holes where I want to have pieces connect with loops or a hook later on
  3. I bake the pieces at around 275 for 15-20 minutes in my toaster oven
  4. Once removed and cooled, I sand down the sides so that it looks better and put the metal connectors in the spots that need it and glue on the stud/ attach the hook
  5. Voila! I can now wear my earrings around!
